The Gondoliers is a comic light opera. Gilbert and Sullivan spun a humorous story with beautiful music to sing and dance to. Marco and Giuseppe grew up as brothers, not knowing that one of them is a king! He was hidden from some evil doers as a babe. However, his foster father has forgotten which son is which! When the time came for the rightful heir to return to his throne, the Grand Inquisitor decides that both of them should rule until the puzzle is solved. Unfortunately, the young men have just married, and the brides cannot go with their new grooms! As you may have guessed, this tale is a satire about how the government is run. The two men take their trusty friends along and have a great time sharing the throne. Back home the two brides argue about which one of them will be Queen! Things get more confusing when a beautiful dutchess arrives with her destitute family and their only servant, a drummer boy. The parents declare that their daughter was married in infancy to the king! Luckily the infant king had a nursemaid who will know him instantly, if she can be found.

No doubt there will be a happy ending!
